Durr Making Immediate Impact for Cowboys

The Alpine Cowboys opened the 2026 season with a roster full of new faces, but few have made a quicker impression than rookie catcher Trevor Durr. In just his first week of professional baseball, Durr earned Player of the Game honors in the Cowboys’ season opener and has already become an important piece of Alpine’s lineup both offensively and defensively.

Cowboys Open Season 3-3 Through First Two Series

The Alpine Cowboys opened the 2026 Pecos League season with a split through their first six games, finishing the opening stretch with a 3-3 record after series against Tucson and Roswell. Alpine began the season at home against the Tucson Saguaros, opening with an exciting 11-10 victory on May 26.

Rec Department Keeps Summer Activities Rolling

As summer gets underway, the Fort Stockton Recreation Department continues to keep local athletes busy with tournaments, camps, and open gym opportunities across the community. Recent weeks wrapped up an exciting stretch of youth softball and baseball city tournaments that brought plenty of close games and championship moments to Rooney Park and Shuster Field.

Cowboys Open New Pecos League Season

The Alpine Cowboys are set to open a new Pecos League season this week as the club returns to Kokernot Field looking to build off a winning 2025 campaign. Alpine finished last season with a 28-24 overall record and remained in the playoff race deep into the summer before ultimately seeing its postseason run come to an end.

Hernandez Closes Career at State Meet

Fort Stockton senior sprinter Eduardo Hernandez closed out his high school track career on the biggest stage in Texas, competing at the UIL State Track and Field Meet in Austin on May 14-16 after qualifying in both the 100-meter and 200-meter dash events.
