The Texas Department of Criminal Justice’s N5 Unit in Fort Stockton is participating in the TDCJ’s State Employee Charity Campaign in an effort to raise money for various charities. The Unit held an employee cooking competition on Oct. 7, with employees making a main dish, side dish salsa and dessert, with the food available to the public for $10 per plate. Winners were, from left, Joe Ray Chavez with his main dish of Pork Ribs, Bianca Hinojos with her side dish of Jalapeno Poppers, Imer Collins with her Salsa and Tina Gonzalez with Pineapple Upside Down Cake. The winners earned prizes donated by Walmart. Collins said the unit has been doing the cookoff for five years and said the unit is holding a silent auction and will have another one in a couple of weeks.
