Saul G. Ortiz, 69, of Fort Stockton, Texas passed away on Aug. 1, 2023, in Dallas, Texas. 

Visitation will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 5, 2023, at Heritage Funeral Home of the Big Bend, 301 N. Main Street in Fort Stockton. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home of the Big Bend with Isael Dela O Officiating. 

There will be a celebration of life meal following funeral service at the Fort Stockton Small Community Hall. 

Saul was born in Escobillas, Mexico to Natalio Ortiz and Maria Garcia on Jan. 19, 1954. He moved to Fort Stockton in 1974. A Short time later Saul met the love of his life Rena Vasquez. Saul and Rena later were married on Nov. 11, 1975, in Fort Stockton. Saul worked in the oil field for 48 years, then went on to have his own dump truck company known as Ortiz Trucking.   

Saul enjoyed spending time at his “terrenito” as everyone called it. Saul enjoyed raising livestock and the agriculture life. Horse racing was one of his most passionate hobbies. Saul had several racehorses of his own. Saul was a very hard-working man that loved to build everything himself, from welding to carpentry.  Saul was a simple man that worked hard every day. He enjoyed RV camping with his children and grandchildren. Saul loves his family and would do anything to spend time with them. 

Saul is preceded in death by his parents Natalio and Maria Ortiz, brothers Ricardo Ortiz, Ramon Ortiz, and Porfirio Ortiz, and sister Belsie Ortiz.  

Saul is survived by his loving wife Rena V. Ortiz of 48 years; his children Yesenia Ortiz, Saul (Naomi) Ortiz Jr., Cesar. (Amanda) Ortiz and Alexia Mata; sisters Elfica Tavarez, Delia VillaPando, Esther Colomo, Martha Ovalle, Bertha Navarro, and brother Natalio Ortiz. Saul leaves behind seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
