Fidel Q. Terrazas Jr.

Fidel Q. Terrazas Jr. left us to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on July 27. He was born on Jan. 1, 1934, in Fort Stockton to Fidel Terrazas Sr. and Balbina Quintana.

Fidel was preceded in death by his wife, Dora G. Terrazas; his father, Fidel Terrazas Sr; his mother, Balbina Quintana; his brother, Camilo Terrazas; and his sister Dora Cordona.

School registration, supply cost details

The Fort Stockton ISD student registration will begin in-person and online on Aug. 4 at 9 a.m. finish on Saturday, Aug. 7, ending at 2 p.m.

The district encourages parents  to use online registration for all students – new and returning – at the district’s webpage https://www.fsisd.net/2021Registration.

Schools will be available to help families with online registration “in-person” at their child’s school during the following help times:

Blue Origin Space Launch

History was made in West Texas on July 21 as billionaire and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos rocketed into space with an 82-year-old aviation pioneer from Texas, his brother, and an 18-year-old from the Netherlands.

The Blue Origin’s New Shepard rocket took off from Van Horn before entering space and landing back on earth 10 minutes later.

FSISD to return to face-to-face instruction only

The Fort Stockton Independent School District will be returning to 100% face-to-face instruction for the 2021-2022 school year. Remote online instruction has been discontinued for the upcoming school year in accordance with state lawmakers’ decisions.

Classes begin at 8 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 16.

The decision was discussed at the July 26 Fort Stockton ISD school board meeting and is effective immediately.
