Ricardo A. Gutierrez, 64, of Fort Stockton, passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2024, in Fort Stockton, surrounded by family.

Visitation will be from 12-5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at Eternity Funeral Home with Rosary to follow at 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at Our Lady of Guadalupe – St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Francis Njoku officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Stockton Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements are by Eternity Funeral Home.

Ricardo A. Gutierrez was born in Fort Stockton to Andrez and Mary Gutierrez on April 12, 1959. He went to school in Fort Stockton. He was married to Lucy Martinez. He worked as a Correctional Officer for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for 20 years.

He worked with the field squad where he was able to ride horses daily. He then worked in the kennel training tracking dogs and was promoted to Kennel Sergeant during his time there. In 1997, he was called to assist with the Republic of Texas standoff that took place in Fort Davis. He was in charge of taking and handling the dogs and horses that assisted law enforcement with the standoff. He never hesitated to assist in any situation, even knowing the danger. He took pride in his job and treated all of his fellow coworkers like family.

His hobbies included playing golf, playing baseball and his love for the Houston Astros, grilling, watching westerns, a love for motorcycles and had a love for horses.

Ricardo A. Gutierrez is preceded in death by his father Andrez Gutierrez.

Ricardo A. Gutierrez is survived by his spouse Lucy; his son Ricardo Gutierrez Jr. and wife Amy; daughter Christina Estrada and husband Manny; daughter Tasha Le and husband Charles; daughter Monica Nguyen and husband Ricky; sister Rebecca Leach and husband Roy; brother John Robert Gutierrez and wife Elva; sister Melissa Gutierrez and husband Hugo; mother Mary Gutierrez; grandchildren Ricky Gutierrez III, Ryan Gutierrez, Mia Gutierrez, Manny and Cristian Estrada, Davin Le, Zaiden and Axton Nguyen; great-grandchildren Arabella Chappa and Aryanna Gutierrez, and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Gutierrez III, Manny Estrada, Ricky Nguyen, Charles Le, Matthew Galindo, and EJ Almendarez.

The family of Ricardo A. Gutierrez wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Young, all of the nurses and staff, Hospice and family and friends who have been there during this difficult time.
