Body

Randy “Red” Wayne Pogue went to be with his Lord and Savior Dec. 13, 2022, in Monahans following a hard fought battle with cancer. He was born in Monahans, Texas to parents J.B. and Barbara Pogue on Sept. 18, 1956. He graduated from Fort Stockton High School in 1975. He was a lifelong resident of Odessa, Texas.

He was nicknamed “Red” for his bright red hair and fiery disposition. He drove many miles chasing rigs where he put the first computers and satellite systems on land rigs all over the US. He worked numerous positions in the oilfield through the inevitable booms and busts. He believed the only good rig was in his rearview mirror. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, garage sale hunting for antiques, football, and cooking up culinary sweets in the kitchen. He was proud of his children and even prouder to be called a grandpa.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Carol & David Deutsch of Bertram, son Robert Pogue of Blanket, granddaughter, and grandsons. He is also survived by three brothers and one sister: James Pogue of Monahans, Robbie Pogue of Caddo Mills, Paul Pogue of Sweetwater, and Pamela Austin of Brownwood, their spouses, and several nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are entrusted to American Heritage Funeral Home of Midland. Memorial services will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made to a state/national park and a request to take your children fishing.
