Ruben Garcia Ramirez, 66, of Fort Stockton, Texas, went to his eternal home to be with his Lord and Father Jesus Christ on Aug. 12, 2021. He was living at Curdsville, Ky., after moving there from Fort Stockton.

Ruben was born to Andrea Urias Garcia and Matilde Sanchez Ramirez on Jan. 22, 1955, in Fort Stockton.

Ruben was preceded in death by his parents, Andrea and Matilde Ramirez.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Dawn Mattingly; his son Ruben James Ramirez of Austin, Texas; daughters Rebecca Ramirez Williams (Clint) of Nashville, Tenn., and Andrea Marie of Grants Pass, Ore.; his siblings Anna Ramirez Luna (Henry), Antonio G. Ramirez (Carmelita), and Oscar G. Ramirez (Bertha), all of Fort Stockton; his in-laws, Joseph and Gail Mattingly of Curdsville, Glenn and Linda Mattingly of Ninevah, Ind., William and Lynnette Mattingly of Cave Creek, Ariz., Lee Mattingly of Key West, Fla., Mark and Diane Mattingly of Valporaiso, Ind., Roxanne and Peter DeRoche of Moss Bluff, La., Dale and Donna Mattingly of Surprise, Ariz., Pamela and Garry Danyi of English, Ind.; and numerous niece and nephews, uncle, aunts, and cousins.

Ruben was a 1974 graduate of Fort Stockton High School, and loved to be outdoors. He enjoyed baking, and was well know for his delicious skillet bread (Cowboy bread). He loved deer hunting with his bow and also with his rifle. He also enjoyed riding his Harleys with his wife Dawn. Ruben was a Jack of all trades. Ruben was employed by The City of Fort Stockton in the gas department until he retired, then went to work for Pecos County State Bank.

Ruben was a kind and gentle person with many friends. He never knew a stranger, always willing to help anyone in need.

Rosary for Ruben will be at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, Downtown campus, St. Joseph’s, 403 South Main Street in Fort Stockton at 2 p.m. on Aug. 30, 2021, with Holy Mass to follow at 3 p.m., with a private interment to follow at the Fort Stockton Catholic Cemetery.
