Friday night marked an awaited event at Zero Stone Park that brought families out to enjoy music in the park.
The Zero Stone Park Concert Series started off big with Bryon Garrison and the Rainmakers performing their original West Texas sound mixed with a little rockabilly and a little country.
The group is composed of Bryon Garrison as lead singer, Pete Westfall on lead guitar, Neil Trammell on bass and Destiny Garrison on drums.
The group is based half in Alpine and the other half in Fort Stockton, and spends their free time playing music together.
The group has been playing together since 2013 and their name was a bit of a running joke.
“The drought was just ending when we started and every time we played it started raining,” said Bryon.
Coupled with a cool breeze and children playing in the grass, the event was a success.
People are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on during the series which is at 400 S. Nelson Street.
The rest of the performances will be:
• June 21: Wayne West
• July 19: Kim Townsend
• August 2: Blan Scott
• August 16: Marcos Mendoza
