A 8-inch water main pipe that broke Christmas Eve night was fixed early Christmas Day by workers from the City of Fort Stockton.
Repairs started on the break – on 11th Street between Texas and Oklahoma streets – at bout 6 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 24, and were completed by 4 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 25, according to Public Works Director Aaron Ramos Jr.
According to Ramos, no houses were without water service. Ramos told The Pioneer that the valves going into the alleys have been closed and, because the service is looped, water continues to flow to houses.
The crew also had to carefully work around two dead natural gas lines that ran above the water line.
11th Street remains closed between Oklahoma and Texas until the dig can be backfilled and the the area cleaned up. That work is expected to be completed by Friday. .
