TENNIS: Fort Stockton def. Fabens in playoffs


The Fort Stockton High School tennis defeated Fabens, 15-4, in the first round of the 4A tennis tournament on Oct. 14 in the opening round of the 4A playoffs.

The Panthers took third in District 2, while Fabens took second in District 1.

The team is coming of a 10-9 win over Big Spring. Mallorie Crenshaw won girls No. 4 singles 1-6, 6-3, and 10-5 in the tiebreaker to seal the decisive point for the Panthers.

Kaitlyn Cope won girls No. 1 singles and Sabina Galindo won No. 2 singles. In girls doubles, No. 2 team of Audrey Gonzales and Mallorie Crenshaw won 7-6, 6-3 .

For the boys, Colton King won boys No. 1 singles 6-4, 6-3 and Tino Martinez won boys No. 5 singles 6-4, 6-0. I

Martinez teamed with K.J. Carillo to win boys doubles 3-6, 6-3, 10-5. The Panthers have finished their regular season at 15 wins and 8 losses.
