Shots fired arrest


The Fort Stockton Police Department is investigating facts related to a shots fired incident Monday, Oct. 14.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:37 p.m. in the Walmart parking lot and resulted in two arrests.

Victor Rozay Smith and Adecamie Yamese Taylor were witnessed by an off-duty Fort Stockton Police Officer and she followed one of two vehicles involved which were described as a gold passenger car and a white pickup.

Based on her quick action and information, Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers and Fort Stockton Police Department Officers conducted a high-risk traffic stop, on the passenger car, near the intersection of Dickinson Blvd. and Missouri Street.

A stolen 9mm pistol was located inside the gold passenger car.

The pistol was reported stolen out of the Odessa Police Department.

The two occupants, of the passenger car, Smith and Taylor, were subsequently arrested without incident.

The four occupants of the pickup were located and interviewed.

Smith and Taylor were were taken into custody and charged with deadly conduct, discharge of a firearm, possession/fraudulent use of identifying information and theft of a firearm.

Based upon interviews, the incident was a personal conflict that occurred outside of Walmart and not an active shooter situation as has been rumored.

The case will be referred to the Pecos County Attorney’s Office and the 112th District Attorney’s Office for review and prosecution.
