Despite a good night at the plate and an early lead, the Prowlers fell to Sweetwater Tuesday night. The Prowlers took an early one run lead on a double by Mary Villarreal after one inning of play. The third inning was the Prowler‘s downfall as Espinosa of the Sweetwater Lady Mustangs hit a home run off of Marly Natividad, scoring two runs followed by her teammate Jones that would hit a double to bring in three runs for the Lady Mustangs.
The Prowlers went back to work in the fifth on a Heliana Bueno homerun to drive in one run. The team added six runs in the seventh inning scoring on a double by Amber Corral, a single by Crishna Villarreal, a double by Desiree Blanco and then a home run by Kobi Byrd.
The Prowlers fell 12-9 in the final with 14 hits on the night led by Crishna Villarreal and Desiree Blanco with three each. Heliana Bueno and Amber Corral led the Prowlers for the night with two runs each while Kobi Bryd led the team with three RBIs on the night.
On the mound Marly Natividad got the start for the Prowlers going three innings giving up six runs on five hits while committing six errors, walking two and striking out three. Meghan Bueno went to work with two innings allowing one run on three hits, committing one error and walking two.
To close out the night for the Prowlers, Amber Corral pitched the final two innings giving up five runs on seven hits while committing five errors and walking two. Last weekend the Prowlers finished seventh out of 20 in the Brewer Tournament in White Settlement. On Thursday the Prowlers started play with an 18-10 victory over Plainview before falling 1-14 to Fort Worth Nolan Catholic. On Friday the Prowlers defeated Mansfield Timberview 5-2 and Fort Worth Southwest 14-1 before falling to Saginaw 4-10 on Saturday to close out the tournament.
The Prowlers will play in the Ector County Tournament this weekend in Odessa play starting Thursday. Then the Prowlers will be on the road next Tuesday as they travel to Alpine to take on the Lady Bucks.
