Prowlers beat Lakeview handily, lose badly to Midland Lee Rebels

Falling behind early, the Prowler softball team struggled to get their offense started as they fell 2-10 to Midland Lee Tuesday afternoon. Despite recording seven hits on the night, the Prowlers would only score two runs on the night.

Desiree Blanco and Heliana Bueno led the Prowlers efforts at the plate with two hits each while Crishna Villarreal, Mary Villarreal, Lisette Hernandez recorded one hit each.

Head Coach Greg Conners said, “The girls played hard throughout, but we had one bad inning full of mental lapses that are inexcusable against good teams.” After the game, he went on to comment, “We gave up seven runs with two outs and three errors in the third and we can’t win games like that."

This is the Prowlers' first loss of the season but Coach Conners continued “Knowing my girls, we’re going to learn from this and be better for it.” Previously on Friday, the Prowlers had defeated Lakeview 23-1, with all the Prowlers recording hits on the night and a “total team effort” as quoted by Coach Conners.

In JV action, the Prowlers also defeated Lakeview Friday afternoon with a score of 16-1 with Bella Renteria leading the JV on the mound while all of the Prowler JV also recorded hits in the game. The Varsity Prowlers will compete in the Brewer Lady Bear Classic in White Settlement Feb. 23 -25 then return home to host Sweetwater on Feb. 28.
