Prowlers 54, Kermit 53


The Fort Stockton High School Prowlers basketball team snapped a three-game losing streak with a 54-53 win against the Kermit Lady Yellow Jackets on Tuesday, Nov. 27 in Kermit.

Three recent promotions from the junior varsity – Alexis Holmquist, Savannah Petralba and Elyanah Calderon – helped the Prowlers (3-3), according to head coach Gabe Norris.

Katie Salmon led the team with 20 points and keyed a strong defensive effort. Trinity Allen dominated the game early, scoring eight of her 13 points in the first half. Krystal Porras added two early buckets helping the Prowlers build a 25-16 halftime lead.

The Prowlers next game is at the Lamesa Tournament, which starts Thursday, Nov. 29.

• Junior Varsity: The Prowlers used a good motion passing game to defeat Kermit 49-26 Tuesday, Nov. 27. Leading the Prowlers in points was Jocelyn Lujan with 22. Alexi Rivera had 11 and Shelby Murphy added 10.

• 8th grade blue: The team lost at Andrews 34-10 in their first game in two weeks.

• 8th grade white: The team lost at Andrews, 36-15. Kat Mendoza had 6 points and 5 steals, while Yvette Lopez put up 5 points.

• 7th grade blue: The team led the entire game and came away with a 29-8 win over Andrews. Leading scorers were Priscilla Trevino with 12, Aryanna Gonzales with 6 and Amaya Urias and Ivanna Ortiz each with 4.
