Prowler Basketball takes first win


Prowler Basketball picked up their first win of the season Tuesday night as they defeated San Angelo Lakeview 69-37 to improve to 1-2 on the season.

The Prowlers took an early lead as they jumped out to 27-10 after the first quarter of play. The Prowlers increased the lead to 20 by the half with a score of 45-25. In the third quarter, the Prowlers outscored Lakeview 13-7 to increase, followed by outscoring Lakeview again in the fourth quarter to take the victory.

Elizabeth Mata led the Prowlers with 16 points for the night, closely followed by Katie Salmon with 14 points. The Prowlers also had scoring from Cassandra Velasquez with nine points, Chloe Crenshaw with eight points, Trinity Allen with five points, Ninelly Gonzalez with four points, Abby Garcia, Enissa Sanchez and Krystal Porras with three points each, and Becca Rodriguez with two points.

On defense, the Prowler's efforts were led by Chloe Crenshaw with five blocks and nine rebounds, while Katie Salmon and Cassandra Velasquez each recorded multiple steals. Elizabeth Mata and Abby Garcia created many turnovers by Lakeview.

Last Saturday, the Prowlers fell 36-41 to the Odessa High Lady Broncos. Highlights for the game included Becca Rodriguez with ten points, Elizabeth Mata with nine points, Enissa Sanchez with eight points, and Chloe Crenshaw with six rebounds and multiple blocks for the night.
