Pie contest at the Garage on Tuesday


For the first time ever, the Garage Coffee, Music and More is hosting a Thanksgiving Pie contest and pie tasting social.

Anyone who has a special family recipe or a favorite pie they like to make is encouraged to make two pies for the event.

One pie will be used for the judges and tasting social and the other pie will be for the silent auction.

There are no entry fees and the contest is open to all ages.

Any dessert pie is welcome, pumpkin, apple, cherry, meringue.

Pies will be dropped off from 5 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Judging takes place from 5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The pie tasting and silent auction is from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

At 7 p.m. awards will be given to the most popular pie, first place fruit, first place nut or custard, first place cream or chocolate and grand champion.

All the proceeds from the silent auction will benefit the Fort Stockton Association for the Support of Local Arts and Music.

Each entry must have a recipe on a 3-inch by 5-inch index card.

Entrants need to use disposable pie tins.

Pies must be delivered and kept a food safe serving temperatures and be individually covered.
