Pie contest a success


The first pie contest hosted by the Garage Coffee, Music and More was a success with 12 pies entering the race.

The judges were Micheal Shuttleworth, Cindy Melendez, Laura Thornton and Crystal Lopez.

The pies entered were five berry, apple, caramel pear, caramel chocolate fudge, chocolate bourbon walnut, pumpkin, cheddar apple, lemon meringue, peanut butter pudding pie, no bake pumpkin and chocolate pudding pie.

The pies were judged on a variety of qualifications including crust, filling and look.

The funds raised from the silent auction sale of the pies and the tips for the pie tasting went to the Fort Stockton Association for the support of local arts and music which encourages and support arts in the city.

The person with the most tips was Jamie Horton with her Caramel Pear Pie.

Reign Rangel won for the pudding or meringue category with her Lemon Meringue Pie.

In the custard and chocolate category, B Shuttleworth won for her Chocolate Bourbon Walnut Pie.

In the fruit pie category, Jennifer Fountain won for her Apple Pie.

The grand champion was Frances Armstrong with a Caramel Chocolate Fudge pie.
