Fabian Perez and Ali Jackson led their respective Fort Stockton cross country teams on Saturday at the Crane Invitational.
Jackson finished in 15th place in the girls 3,200-meter race with a time of 13 minutes 21.84 seconds. Perez placed 19th in the boys 5k race, crossing the finish line in 18:26.50. Perez’s finish propelled the Panthers to a fifth-place finish as a team with 186 points, one point ahead of Alpine.
There was a total of 14 teams who tallied team points in the boys division and 15 in the girls division.
The Prowlers did not have enough runners to place as a team.
Natalie Molinar and Katie Villarreal each competed for the Fort Stockton girls and they placed 62nd and 97th respectively.
“The Prowlers progressed extremely well from their two-mile times from last week,” Fort Stockton coach Sergio Guardiola said.
On the Fort Stockton boys’ team, Juan Vela, Lakota Franklin, and Jesus Hernandez all placed inside the top 40. Vela placed 25th in a time of 18:39.10, Franklin took 32nd (18:48.60), and Hernandez finished less than 20 seconds behind Franklin to place 35th (19:06.50).
Aiden Rayos rounded out the boys team by placing 91st (22:51.50).
“The Panther boys competed and worked their way through some great competition as well as in their 5K course,” Guardiola said.
Buena Vista won the girls division and Andrews won the boys division.
Fort Stockton’s next meet will be the Bo Coffman Invitational on Thursday, Sept. 17. In Presidio.
