Pedestrian killed, driver injured in I-10 collision


A pedestrian was killed and the driver of a car seriously injured in an accident on Interstate 10 Tuesday, about a half-mile from Fort Stockton near mile-marker 256.

The incident occurred at bout 4:30 p.m. The accident remains under investigation.

The pedestrian, whose name is being withheld pending notification of next-of-kin, was reportedly in the roadway when he was struck by a Toyota traveling eastbound. The car then traveled off the roadway into a ditch to the south.

The driver, from San Antonio, was transported to Pecos County Memorial Hospital and was listed in serious condition. The pedestrian was listed as being from Arizona.

The Texas Highway Patrol was assisted by the Fort Stockton Police Department and Pecos County Sheriff's Deputies.
