Pedestrian killed in Coyanosa accident

An Odessa man was killed the morning of Friday, Oct. 26 after being struck by a car while attempting to cross FM 1776 in Coyanosa.

According the the Texas Department of Public Safety, Calixo Ramirez, 54, was crossing the road from west to east amid foggy conditions and failed to yield the right-of-way.

He was struck by a 2008 Chrysler 300 being driven north bound on FM 1776 by Emilian B. Firan, 30, of Arlington. He was not injured.

The posted speed limit is 65 mph.

Drivers and pedestrians are reminded to take extra care in foggy conditions.
