Pecos County confirms second COVID-19 fatality


Pecos County has reported its second COVID-19 related death on Aug. 8, according to County Judge Joe Shuster. 

The fatality is a 50-year-old male whose cause of contraction is unknown. He died on Aug. 5 at the Pecos County Memorial Hospital. 

The county currently has 23 active cases. This means the county is mandated to wear masks under order of the governor and has lost its 30-day streak of keeping the case count under 20. 

As of Aug. 7,  1,553 individuals have been tested, with 27 tests pending. Out of these tests, 160 were positive in Pecos County and 1,309 were negative.  A total of 139 people have recovered county-wide.
