Panthers take victory in season opener


The Panthers took a 1-0 victory over Presidio this week in their 2017 season opener. The Panthers took the early lead as they scored in the bottom of the first on a single by Luis Dominguez.

Dominguez would go 2-3 at the plate for Panthers while going 4.1 innings on the mound with seven strikeouts, and only allowing four hits to pick up the win.

Morabie Ramirez came in during the fifth inning to finish out the game. Ramirez recorded four strikeouts while giving up three hits and no runs during his 2.2 innings at work. Coach Chris Gonzales commented, “our pitching was on point” while going on to say “ Overall the Panthers executed defensively… we did struggle at the plate”. The Panthers will travel to Shallowater this weekend for tournament play then travel to Stanton on Monday.
