Panthers show strength in Power Classic


The Panthers power lifting team snatched second place in the Fort Stockton Power Classic this past weekend as area schools came to compete in the annual event. Ivan Pena led the way for the Panthers with a first place finish in his division followed by second place finishers Alonso Corral, Steven Everett and Andric Ramirez. Brandon Propst was the sole third place finisher for the Panthers followed by Noah Barriaga and Anthony Gomez both in fourth place and Jaden Gonzalez in fifth place.

The Prowlers also had three ladies place in the meet. Mary Villarreal and Sarina Patel lead the way with third place finishes in their divisions while Natalee Pacheco finished fourth. The Panthers and Prowlers will continue to compete over the next two weeks in their last regional qualifier meets of the season. After the meet Head Coach John Gossett said, “The 2017 Power Classic was a big success and the Powerlifting coaches would like to send out a big thank you to all the FSISD coaches and other volunteers who made it all possible”.
