The Panthers are now Bi-District Champions after a 73-48 victory over Fabens Tuesday night. Having missed the playoff the last three seasons the Panthers made the push through district play to finish at 4-4 and then took on Fabens in Bi-District action.
After getting off to a slow start, the Panthers took a 20-9 lead by the end of the first quarter with Casey Nolen scoring 10 points to lead the Panthers. At the half, the Panthers held a 41-28 lead and held strong as the Panther defense only gave up 16 points in the second half and then secured the win.
Andric Herrera led the Panther scoring with 20 points while also having six rebounds on the night followed by Casey Nolen with 17 points and eight rebounds, Jovany Wislar with 13 points and six rebounds and Cole Daggett added 11 points while leading the Panthers with 10 rebounds on the night. Also scoring for the Panthers were Erik Bislar with two points, Nick Johnson with three points and Kobe Henderson with one point.
"Tonight was a tremendous TEAM victory! It was a loud hostile environment, but we were not going to be denied!" commented Head Coach Richard Rojas after Tuesday night's victory.
Coach Rojas went on to say, “I would like to thank the fans who made the trip to support our boys and the fans who heard the game on the radio.” The Panthers will now face Seminole in the next round of the playoffs, as of press time the site and time for this game had not been set.
