Panther Varsity Tennis takes home tourney honors

The Panther Tennis Team took first place in the Fort Stockton Tennis Tournament this past weekend along with several other honors. The Panthers finished the tournament with 150 points, ahead of Reagan County with 116, followed by Sonora with 110, Permian JV at 102, Wink with 55, Pecos at 51, and Del Rio JV with 47 points.

Along with the first place overall finish, the Panthers also won the Best Girls Team and Best Boys Team award for the weekend as well as having team member Cody Aaron named Boys Tournament MVP.

Individual awards for the meet for the Panthers went to: Cody Aaron-first in boys singles flight 1, first in boys doubles flight 1; Joseph Diaz-first in boys singles flight 2, and first in boys doubles flight 2;Trey Rodriguez-first in boys singles flight 3, and first in boys doubles flight 2;Darryn Sanchez-first in boys singles flight 5, and third in mixed doubles flight 1; Shaun Rodriguez-fourth in boys singles flight 6; Paloma Silvestre-second in girls doubles flight 1; Katilyn Cope-third in flight 2 girls singles, and first in girls doubles flight 3; Jessenia Ureste-first in girl singles flight 3, and first in girls doubles flight 2; Wesley Crockett-first in girls singles flight 4, and second in girls doubles flight 1; Chloe Crenshaw-first in girls singles flight 5, and first in girls doubles flight 3; Maira Sanchez-fourth in girls singles flight 6, and first in girls doubles flight 2; and Kaitlynn Pacheco-third in mixed doubles flight 1.

Panther JV Tennis comes in second in home tourney

The Panther JV Tennis team finished second in the Fort Stockton Winter Invitational last week that included competition from Pecos JV, Sanderson Varsity, Alpine Varsity, Balmorhea Varsity, TLCA Varsity, and Marathon Varsity. Individual results for the Panthers included in Girls Doubles, Briana Ryan and Sara Lopez as Consolation Finalists; in Mixed Doubles, Jonathan Gonzales and Leianna Ureste came in second place; in Boys Singles Tino Martinez took second place, and Michael Ellison came in as Consolation Finalist. In Girls Singles, Kaitlynn Pacheco took first place, Sabina Galindo took second and Amber Navarro took third place.
