Panther football closes season


Panther Football finished their 2017 season this past week, falling 13-49 to Monahans. The Panthers finished the season at 3-7 with a 1-5 district record.

The Panthers defeated Lakeview in week two of the season, followed by a week three victory over Denver City. The Panthers then defeated Lamesa in week seven to pick up their only district win.

This past week the Panther offense was led by Cesar Trejo with 53 yards rushing, followed by Brian Gonzales with 18 yards rushing and 13 yards receiving.

The Panther defense was again led by Cole Daggett with 12 tackles and three assists, followed by Cesar Trejo with seven tackles and four assists, and Arian Galindo with six tackles and two assists. The Panthers close the season with Nick Johnson leading the Panthers with 710 yards rushing and 57 completions for 698 yards. The Panther offense was also saw great performances by Brian Gonzalez with 549 yards rushing, 12 catches for 106 yards, and two passes for 40 yards. Cesar Trejo had 331 yards rushing and seven catches for 53 yards.

This year the area will be realigned so the Panthers wait and see if they will return to the same district or possibly realigned with new set of teams for the 2018 season.
