Odessa man dies in Highway 18 crash


An Odessa man died Thursday in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 18.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is reporting a fatal crash on Highway 18, 10 miles north of Fort Stockton. The crash occurred at about 4 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 13.

According to DPS, a 1997, Volvo, truck tractor towing a semi-trailer driven by Brito Gil, 39, of Midland, collided with a 2004 Ford F-450 pickup truck driven by Borjon, Andres, 26, of Odessa.

The Volvo was traveling north on Highway 18. The Ford was also heading north and was traveling behind the Volvo. When the Volvo slowed to make a left turn, the Ford struck the trailer being towed by the Volvo.

The speed limit in the area is 75 mph. Road conditions were dry and weather conditions were clear.
