I’m writing to express how satisfying my New Year’s Eve was in Fort Stockton.
I pulled into town for the night on my way home to Covington, LA, from Silver City, NM, where I’d been visiting family. A web search directed me to the Grey Mule Saloon tasting room, where I sampled some delicious wine and enjoyed the professional and friendly atmosphere. A tip from the staff there led me to the Candlewood Suites, where I secured a nice room and comfortable bed for the night.
Being that the night was still young, I ventured across the street to the Fairfield Inn and enjoyed another glass of wine and friendly conversation with the exceptional bartender. A couple I met there invited me to accompany them to Angels Dance Hall for the rest of the evening. Once again, I was impressed with my experience. The staff was courteous and professional and the patrons friendly. I even learned to two-step a bit on the dance floor!
Yes, my long evening and night turned to morning with the onset of 2016, and a car blocking my new-found friend’s car kept us there until closing time. This was of no consequence as I enjoyed every moment of my New Year’s Eve.
I slept long and well into the morning and enjoyed a delicious lunch on New Year’s Day at La Duena Restaurant before I hit the road west toward home.
Thank you Fort Stockton for showing this out-of-towner exceptional hospitality and a roaring good time!
