LOCAL MAN KILLED IN GRANDFALLS CRASH

A Fort Stockton man was killed in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday, June 13 in Ward County.

Paul R. Weyerts, 50, of Fort Stockton was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Weyerts was driving a 1994 Peterbilt truck north on State Highway 18 in Grandfalls and was struck by a southbound 2017 Ford F-250 pickup truck that was being driven in the northbound lane head-on at 12:24 p.m. DPS reported that Weyerts was not wearing a seatbelt.

The driver of the Ford, Lorman A. Dupuis, 28, of Abbeville, LA suffered incapacitating injuries and was transported to Ward County Hospital in Monahans, according to the DPS, which reported Dupuis was wearing a seatbelt.

The posted speed limit was 55 mph. Conditions were reported by the DPS as clear and dry.

The crash was investigated by Trooper Daniel Leyva, DPS Monahans. He was assisted by Trooper John Moya, DPS Monahans.
