James “Jim” Otto Renz of Fort Stockton passed away Monday, Oct. 16, 2017, in Fort Stockton at the age of 73 years. Renz was born on April 28, 1944 to Otto Herman Renz and Edith (Hanson) Renz Clifford “Tiny” in Pecos. He grew up in Balmorhea. Renz served in the Marine Corps and was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant E5 on May 29, 1969. He worked for Transwestern Pipeline/Enron until 1993.
Renz is survived by his wife, Phyllis (Bonham) Renz; his sons, James Philip Renz of Fort Stockton, Gil Noe Romero Renz and wife Sonia Navarrete Quinones of Villa Aldama Chihuahua; his half-brother, Scott Renz of Alpine; his step brothers, Wade Gibson of Fuquay Varing, NC, and Brian Gibson of Wink; his nephews, Robert Renz, Jesse Renz, and James Renz; his niece, Jolie Renz; and his grandchildren, Sonia Quinones Renz, Lesley Quinones Renz, Hillary Quinones Renz, and Emely Quinones Renz.
Renz is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Lee Renz; his aunt and uncle, Bob and Irene Whitaker; and his numerous relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2017, at Heritage Funeral Home, Fort Stockton. A memorial service will held beginning at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2017, at Heritage Funeral Home, Fort Stockton.
