Unbeaten Iraan rallies to beat Wink 24-7

Braves improve to 8-0


The Iraan Braves improved to 8-0 by rallying for a 24-7 win over Wink in the District 1 2A2 opener for both teams.

The game marked the return of Brodey Myers to the Braves after missing five game with an arm injury. Despite Myers' return, it was Kyler Miller under center. He completed 7-of-10 passes for 102 yards and a touchdown.

Dylan Kent, filling in for injured running back Mario De Luna, had 26 carries for 172 yards.

Wink broke a scoreless tie early in the second quarter as Nicholas Gray hit Wade Halterman for a 26-yard touchdown. Austin Rios' PAT kick made it 7-0.

Joe Kennedy got Iraan on the board with an 11-yard run. However, Myers' PAT kick was blocked, leaving the score 7-6.

That is where the scored stayed going into the half.

Iraan took the lead for good with 2:22 left in the third quarter as Miller completed a 6-yard pass to Joe Kennedy for 6 yards. Isaac Mendoza's two-point conversion run failed, leaving the Braves up 12-7.

Iraan put the game away with two fourth-quarter scores.

Myers had a 10-yard run for a score. His PAT kick missed, making the score 18-7.

Angel Petralba scored from 18-yards yard out to make it 24-7. Myers' PAT kick was blocked.
