Iraan 27, Crane 7 (FINAL)


First-year head coach and Iraan High School alumni Corby Maurer lead the Braves to a 27-7 win over the Crane Cranes Friday night at BRave Stadium.

Iraan travels to Ozona for a 7:30 p.m. game Friday. The Lions lost 34-19 to Sonora in its opener.

Iraan out gained Crane 228 to 64 and held the Cranes to -2 yards passing.

The Braves jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter with Brodey Myers hitting Jermaine Bernal for a 13-yard touchdown and Kyler Miller returning an interception for another score. Luis Salas converted both PATS.

After a scoreless second quarter, Crane pulled within 14-7 on a 5-yard run by Brandon Cerna.

But Iraan answered with Myers' touchdown run. Bernal made to the PAT to make it 21-7 with 3:45 left in the quarter.

Myers finished with 54 yards on 10 carries.

Iraan's final score came on Mario De Luna's 1-yard run with 5:57. Salas' kick missed, leaving the score 27-7.

De Luna rushed for 113 yards on 21 carries .

Iraan finished with 202 rushing yards and 26 yards passing. The Braves attempted on five passes.

Iraan's defense recovered one of two Crane fumbles. The braves also committed six penalties for 45 yard.
