UPDATED: Former Pioneer Reporter Bob Beal killed in crash

Beals was riding bicycle on FM 2037


Former Fort Stockton Pioneer reporter Bob Beal, 65, was killed today after he was hit by truck while riding his bicycle 10 miles east of Fort Stockton on FM 2037.

According to the preliminary report from the Texas State Troopers, Beal was traveling south on FM 2037 when he was struck from behind by a 2017 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck being driven by Darren J. Hinsley, 30, of Lubbock.

Hinsley was not injured.

Clear and dry conditions were reported at the time of the crash. The speed limit on FM 2037 is 75 mph.

This crash is still under investigation.
