Esmeralda R. Gutierrez


Esmeralda R. Gutierrez, 60, of Fort Stockton, Texas, passed away at MCH in Odessa, Texas, on Wednesday, June 10, 2020, at 3:53 p.m. from battling breast cancer for two years.

She was born Oct. 17, 1959, in Fort Stockton, Texas, and was married to her husband, Ramiro Gutierrez, from Chihuahua, Mexico, for 44 years. She left behind four daughters: Cynthia R. Gutierrez of San Antonio, Elsa G. Gutierrez, Bianca G. Mendoza of Fort Stockton, wife of Adam A. Mendoza, of Phoenix, Arizona, and Rachel G. Sepulveda, wife of Pedro J. Sepulveda, of Monahans.

Esmeralda was predeceased by her parents: Epifanio and Herminia Ruiz, and her brothers: Enrique Duarte, Luis Ruiz, Lorenzo Ruiz, and Lupe Ruiz of Fort Stockton, Texas.

She is survived by brothers: Frank Ruiz, Daniel Ruiz, Mario Ruiz, David Ruiz, and Martin Ruiz of Fort Stockton, and Fabian Ruiz; sisters: Eva R. Riojas and Linda R. Carrillo of Fort Stockton, and Alicia R. Jimenez from Denver, Colorado; nine grandchildren: Joaquin Gonzalez, Jacqueline Gonzalez, Daniella Rodriguez, Zujeyli Mendoza, Jocell Mendoza, Samantha Sepulveda, Janessa Sepulveda, Gabriela Sepulveda, and Pedro Sepulveda, Jr.; and one great-grandchild: Kingston Ryder Gonzalez.

Her passion was to be a housewife. She loved to cook, listen to music, and dance. She loved to have her family and friends in unity. She was always a happy person and loved to be goofy with her grandchildren. Esmeralda was an inspiration to everyone around her while she was battling breast cancer. She was a very strong person and fought till her last breath. Her unwavering faith took her beyond measures. Her generosity and her kind spirit will be greatly missed by her family and those who got the privilege to know her.

Visitation will be held Monday, June 15, 2020, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, 301 N. Main St., Fort Stockton, Texas. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2020, at Templo el Buen Pastor, 409 W. Division St., Fort Stockton, Texas, with burial to follow at East Hill Cemetery.
