COVID-19: Death toll continues to rise in Pecos County

The death toll continued to slowly rise in Pecos County over the past seven days.

Five additional COVID-19 deaths occurred in the county from Oct. 27 to Nov. 3.

The deaths included a 75-year-old female who was a resident of Focused Care Nursing Home in Fort Stockton, a 78-year-old female, an 80-year-old male, an 80-year-old female who was a resident at FCNH, and a 90-year-old female who was also a resident at FCNH.

All five were individuals contracted the virus from confirmed cases.

The total number of deaths in Pecos County is now at 18 since the start of the pandemic. The number of deaths has risen from six people to 18 people over the last three weeks.

Active case numbers in the county as of Nov. 3 are at 64, the same number as last week. The total number of infections has slowed down from the week prior as 32 individuals tested positive over the last seven seven days.

During the week prior (Oct. 20 to Oct. 27), a total of 46 people tested positive for COVID-19.

Of the 32 positive tests of this past week, a 1-year-old tested positive – the youngest since the start of the pandemic.

As of Nov. 3, there is 39 tests pending and a total of 427 positive tests in the county since the start of the pandemic. A total of 2,613 people have been tested and 2,054 of those tests have came back negative (78 percent).

  • Case #418 65-year-oldd male with contraction from confirmed case. Tested on Oct. 30 at PCMH. Self-quarantined at home.
