Carla Jean Harper, age 80, of Fort Stockton, TX went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, November 28, 2017. She was born in Fort Stockton to the late Carl Ollie and Doyle Annie (George) Smith on August 7, 1937.
Although a Fort Stockton resident, she was a world traveler and resided in over 26 different places throughout her life, including Venezuela, Australia and Scotland.
Carla was a well respected chemical dependency counselor while residing in Huntsville, TX, with a career spanning over 30 years. She was honored with being inducted into the Hall of Fame for Licensed Counselors by the Houston chapter of the T. A. A. P. in the state of Texas.
Carla had a loving nature and caring spirit that drew others to her. Her singular ability to make anyone smile, even complete strangers, attracted people to her. Adults, children, and animals alike loved her.
Those left to cherish her love and memories are her Daughter: Karen Jean Harper of Fort Stockton; Son: Douglas Wayne Harper of Houston; Brother: John Enoch Smith of Vermont; Sisters: Shirley Ann Sherrill of San Angelo and Georgeanne Carroll of Fort Stockton; five Grandchildren and nine Great-Grandchildren.
Her family loved her tremendously and she will be greatly missed!
Memorial services were at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at The Apostolic Tabernacle Church in Fort Stockton on the corner of 5th and Sycamore. Rev. R. K. Johnson officiated.
