Blanche Salinas Garcia of San Antonio passed away Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2019, at the age of 87 years. She was born on Oct. 16, 1931 in San Antonio, Texas, to Nicolas and Francisca Salinas.
Blanche was raised in Sanderson. Blanche and her husband Joe Garcia moves to Fort Stockton in 1952. Blanche was a devout Catholic, had a very strong faith and devotion to the Holy Rosary. While living in Fort Stockton she was an active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church serving as a CCE teacher, member of the Guadalupana and Sacred Heart Society and served as a Eucharist Minister. She was a member of the church choir. Blanche was a leader and presenter for the Life in The Spirit Seminars. She received training as a paraprofessional counselor and Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor.
Blanche and her husband moved to San Antonio. Blanche’s hobbies were cooking for her family, sewing, reading, and was a talented artist. Blanche & her husband Joe were Service Station owners before their retirement.
Blanche is survived by her husband, Joe C. Garcia; her son, Joe Garcia Jr. and his wife Nina; her daughter, Rosalinda Rubio and her husband Raul; her 5 grandchildren; her 16 great grandchildren; her great great grandchildren; and her cousin, Valentin Barrera Jr.
Blanche is preceded in death by her parents; Nicolas and Francisca Salinas.
Visitation will be on Sunday, March 3, 2019, from 2 p.m.-7 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home in Fort Stockton, Texas with Rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral Services will be Monday, March 4, 2019, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Downtown Campus at 10 a.m. in Fort Stockton, burial to follow at Fort Stockton Catholic Cemetery.
