Bash Music Festival

The Bash Music Festival is changing venues for its fifth edition.

For the last four years, the event was held in the parking lot of the Garage Coffee, Music and More on Main Street. This year the fun will move to Manuel Nunez Park, 501 S. Main St.

The purpose for the event has also evolved over time. The first year was a party to mark the one-yard anniversary of the Garage's opening.

In year two, the event grew into a fundraiser for combat veterans.

Garage owner Renee Gaylor wants to support veterans who help other veterans. Her brother-in-law, Donald Gaylor, is a combat veteran associated with Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association.

“It is a special organization because its other combat veterans helping combat veterans which is sometimes the only people who know what they need,” she said.

The Bash festival starts planning in February. Organizers work to celebrate independent music, the anniversary of the Garage, promote tourism and raise money for the combat veterans.

Gaylor does not charge vendors – she only expects them to donate 5 percent of their sales to CVMA.

“We're really excited this year,” she said.

Gaylor said they are expecting a big turnout this year.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chair to enjoy a full day of vendors and live music.

There will be a coloring contest, open to all ages, and entries can pick up the sheet at the Garage or print their own from the Bash website.

The Fort Stockton Pioneer is also hosting a “Dog Days of Summer” coolest dog contest.

Dogs dressed in summer attire will be judged at 4:30 p.m. on event day.

From 12 to 8 p.m there will be an ax throwing booth hosted by Axey Pad, with an ax throwing competition at 3 p.m.

Attendees are encouraged to add to personal touches to the mural at the community art space.
