Baseball: Panthers 7, Midland JV 2


Fort Stockton Panthers varsity baseball took a 7-2 victory over Midland High JV Thursday, March 7 at the Bug Spring Tournament.

The Panthers (8-4) put up four runs in the third inning. Erik Bislar, Evian Castro, and Jason Childs drove the inning with base hits. Jamie Natividad got the win on the mound and allowed one hit and two runs over six innings, striking out six.

Earlier Thursday, the Panthers stole a game from Brownfield 6-5. Edward Prieto dominated on the mound and got the win.

“Brian Gonzales, Derek Hernandez, and Diego Renteria had successful bunts moving runners over and put runners in scoring position to give our team the best chance to win” said Coach Valadez.

Tournament play continues Friday, March 8 at 3 p.m. vs. Midland Greenwood.

• Junior Varsity: The Fort Stockton JV baseball team defeated Van Horn 8-3 in the first round of the Van Horn tournament. Dominic Aguilera, Dominic Aguilar and Jesus Rodriguez all had 2 RBIs. Starting pitcher Isaias Dominguez struck out six. Frankie Granado came out of the bullpen to strike out two.
