Back to school supply donation efforts afoot locally

Local efforts are underway to collect and distribute school supplies for children in need. Here is what has been sent in to The Pioneer. If you have a project not list, please e-mail steve.fountain@fortstocktonpioneer with the information.

Christina’s Operation Backpack

Christina’s Operation Backpack is back with its 4th annual event in Fort Stockton. If you know someone who is a student of Fort Stockton Independent School District, who needs school supplies, please reach out to Tatiana Rojas at (432) 290-0113, or message us on Facebook at Christina’s Operation Backpack with the student’s name and grade.

If you would like to donate, we are currently accepting school supplies for students in our Fort Stockton community with drop-off locations setup at The Northside Baptist Church, Gracepoint Church and The Pecos County State Bank.

Kicks and Cuts

From 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Aug. 11, Gracepoint Church in Fort Stockton is providing free haircuts and new shoes to children as part of a back-to-school outreach. The church is located at 108 W 10th St. For more information, call

West Texas Credit Union

The Fort Stockton Branch of West Texas Credit Union at 401 W Dickinson will be accepting donations for school supplies until Friday, Aug. 10. There is a blue barrel inside of the office that can be filled with supplies such as pencils, backpacks, crayons, paper, highlighters and more. The donations will go to kids in need.
