Aniceto Robles Nuñez

Aniceto Robles Nuñez of Fort Stockton passed away Sunday, March 4, 2018, in Fort Stockton, Texas at the age of 93 years. He was born on April 17, 1924, in Fort Stockton, Texas to Encarnacion Nuñez and Margarita Robles. He served his country, proudly, as a Master Sergeant in the U.S. Army during WWII. As a member of the 44th Infantry Division, he fought in the Battle and Campaigns of Northern France, the Rhineland, and Central Europe. Mr. Nunez was decorated with the Bronze Star Metal, The European African Middle Eastern Ribbon, and the Good Conduct Ribbon.

After returning to Fort Stockton, Texas in July, 1945, Aniceto became involved in numerous civic, religious, and athletic organizations, including the American G.I. Forum, Democratic Party, Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus, Sonic Baseball Team, and the Firestone Bowling League. He was also an avid fan of the Houston Astros and the Dallas cowboys.

Aniceto is survived by his children, Amado Rafael Nuñez, Mariana Nuñez, Irma Nuñez Rubio, Maria Margarita Hinojos; his six grandchildren, his twelve great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Sarah Ureta, Alicia Jaques, and Cleo Castelo; his brothers, Chon and David Nuñez.

Mr. Nuñez is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Agueda Gonzales Nunez; his granddaughter, Ana Lisa Tess; his brothers, Cipriano, Manuel Cosme; his sisters, Tecla Godina, Josefita Granado, Juliana Mesa, Cruz Arcides, Gregoria Gonzales, and Josefina Galindo.

Visitation was Wednesday, March 7, from 2-7 p.m. with rosary at 7 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home in Fort Stockton, Texas. Funeral service was Thursday, March 8, 2018, beginning at 2 p.m. at St Joseph Catholic Church in Fort Stockton, Texas with Father Serafin officiating. Burial followed at Fort Stockton Catholic Cemetery.
