UPDATE 3 p.m. Nov. 20: Lubbock Avalanche Journal is reporting that the boy remains in critical condition at Covenant Children’s Hospital in Lubbock
Fort Stockton Police are investigating the apparent beating of a 3-year-old boy Saturday, Nov. 17.
Police were called to Pecos County Memorial Hospital around 10 a.m. Saturday. According to Chief of Police Ryan Skelton, the child had been brought to the hospital after being found at the Valley Creek Apartments, 2038 FM 1053 in Fort Stockton.
When officers arrived at the hospital, officers learned that the 3-year-old was being actively treated for serious injuries to his head and body.
After being stabilized at PCMH, the child was air-lifted to Covenant Children’s Hospital in Lubbock. The child is listed in critical condition.
The police department’s Criminal Investigation team is working with 83rd District Attorney’s Office on the investigation.
A crime scene has been processed the investigation is ongoing. The Texas Rangers are assisting due to the locations of those being interviewed.
When asked about the child’s family, Skelton said, “That’s the part that’s being investigated. As the investigation proceeds, we will release more details.”
