The Fort Stockton High School Blue Wave competed in the Andrews Invitational Swim Meet last Saturday to prepare our swimmers for the upcoming District swim meet. This meet consisted of 28 teams from Class 6A to 4A and 450 swimmers. This two-day meet was tough, but our kids showed grit and competitiveness.

The Fort Stockton 1,600-meter relay team is the fastest 4A team in the land. The Panthers team of Aryan Hernandez, Marco Garcia, Jesus Hernandez, Zane Hodges won the event in a time of 3:17.19 outpacing Aubrey by four tenths of a second.

The Fort Stockton Prowlers annual trip to the Monahans Chamber of Commerce Tournament saw Fort Stockton face some stiff competition, coming away from the three-day tournament with a 2-3 record. The Prowlers were 11-8 overall for the season entering Tuesday’s home battle against Midland Christian (13-8).

New Fort Stockton boys basketball coach Travis Lancaster has said he’s scheduled top competition in order to make the Panthers better. The Panthers certainly are physical, and have taken some lumps this season, and the team’s farewell to 2023 was certainly one of those games as Fort Stockton fell to an athletic Permian squad 108-50 on Dec. 19.

Before the Fort Stockton Prowlers varsity basketball squad headed north to the Monahans Chamber of Commerce Tournament today, they first had to travel south and east to Del Rio to face a Queens team that had been struggling of late. But the hosts were unfriendly as they downed their Prowler visitors, 3726.

The Bill and Virginia Williams Special Events Center was buzzing with basketball last week for the annual West Texas Shootout. The tournament brought in 11 teams from Lubbock to El Paso for a three-day run. Fort Stockton’s Panthers went 1-4 for the tournament, but faced and overcame adversity in the process.

The Fort Stockton High School Prowlers earned a sweep against San Angelo Lake View last week in San Angelo. The freshmen defeated the Maidens 4112 as Enayeli Acosta led the offense with 23 points.

The Fort Stockton Middle School eighth graders had a unique opportunity to compete in a preseason Tri meet against Monahans and Pecos on Dec. 12.

The Varsity Panthers Basketball team continues to head in a new positive direction this season. This weekend, Coach Lancaster chose the toughest tournament that he could find to gain experience and learn how the game of basketball is played at the highest levels in Texas.
