Janet Louise Tackett, age 76 of San Saba, Texas, passed away on Friday, Feb. 7, 2020, peacefully at her home surrounded by her family. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Janet and her husband, Clyde Tackett, lived in Imperial, Texas, where she was active with the Volunteer Fire Department. Janet also enjoyed working at the Imperial School. more
Clayton Wheat Williams, Jr. passed into heaven’s gates surrounded by his loving family on Feb. 14, 2020. Clayton was born October 8, 1931 in the small West Texas town of Alpine to Clayton and Chicora (Graham) Williams. The son and grandson of legendary pioneering West Texans, he grew up in nearby Fort Stockton and graduated from Texas A&M in 1954 with a degree in animal husbandry. Delores Jeanette “Bootsie” Conley, 85, of Abilene, Texas, passed away peacefully on Friday, Jan. 31, 2020. Bootsie was born on Oct. 4, 1934, in Compere (Jones County), Texas, to her parents Ardie Walter (A.W.) Clemmer and Zella Spencer Clemmer. On Jan. 5, 1952, Bootsie married Doyle Curtis Conley. They raised their three children in Monahans for 10 years, and afterwards in Fort Stockton, where they owned the Gibson’s Discount Center for many years. The family will receive friends during visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 3, at Hillcrest Church of Christ, 650 E. Ambler in Abilene. Her funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 4, at Hillcrest Church of Christ. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Merkel under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home. more
