County seeks grant for Iraan park improvements

Body
Precinct 3 Commissioner Mickey Jack Perry and his crew have been working to improve the Iraan Pecos River Park, investing time, labor, and nearly $70,000 in budgeted funds, as of 2023. The ongoing work has caught the eye of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD). The County’s history of dedication to the park and the local citizens, combined with a strong emphasis within TPWD to expand recreational opportunities in West Texas, has set the stage for future collaborative work. After speaking with Commissioner Perry, TPWD’s Inland Fisheries Division biologists assisted in the creation of a Habitat and Angler Access Program (HAAP) grant draft for the Iraan Pecos River Park. On May 8, The Pecos County Commissioner’s Court voted to apply for the grant.
