SRSU invites public to guided hikes on Hancock Hill in 2024

Sul Ross State University faculty and researchers will begin hosting monthly guided hikes on Hancock Hill in January. Each hike will have a theme and hike leader who serves as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) from Sul Ross State. Hike themes will vary each month with topics ranging from birds and plants to geology and anthropology.

School Board honors Teachers of the Quarter

With the first half of the school year nearly complete and students heading into the holiday break, the Fort Stockton Independent School District school board recognized outstanding Teachers of the Quarter at its Dec. 12 meeting. Teachers honored included Victor Valadez from Fort Stockton Middle School, Brenda Gallegos from Fort Stockton Intermediate School, Cody Aaron from Fort Stockton High School, Paola Gutierrez from Apache Elementary School and Denise Crenshaw from Alamo Elementary.

County enters into lease agreement with FS Chamber for rodeo

The five-year run of the Comanche Springs Rodeo has been a successful one for the Fort Stockton Chamber of Commerce and all of Pecos County. The Chamber and County hope to continue that trend, and mutually agreed to a five-year lease agreement on Monday morning to continue the rodeo every fourth weekend In March at the Pecos County Civic Center and Pecos County Coliseum.
