Pecos County's 24th confirmed COVID-19 case is connected to two earlier cases, which are connected to cases from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice's N5 Unit. The 41-year-old male is reported by county officials to have tested on May 12 and as a co-worker of Case #16, a 39-year-old male. The county did not provide the name of business where the two men are co-workers, but Emergency Management Coordinator Jessie Dominguez said the two worked by themselves. But it appears that the county has seen its first spread of N5 Unit COVID-19 cases beyond employees and family members of the TDCJ.  more

A 70-year-old male who tested positive for COVID-19 has died, marking the first death in Pecos County.  According to Pecos County Judge Joe Shuster, the man was a was being treated for another illness at the time of his death, but since he tested positive for COVID-19 on June 19, the state considered it as a possible cause of hs death. The man tested positive at a behaviorial facility in the county, where he was also being quarantined.  Pecos County has 12 active cases remaining from 53 positive tests. more
